Lee E. Howard
was born Jan 23, 1899  and died February 28, 1976 in Polk County, Iowa.  His siblings included Clarence (born Feb 1882 in IA) and Charles (born Sep 1891 in IA).  Clarence worked for the Rock Island RailRoad in Iowa.  He married "Willard",  no children.  Charles (Charlie) married "Gertrude" and they had 3 children.  His parents were Clinton Howard and Susannah Hammers Person.

Clinton Howard
Conflicting birth dates, but probably Feb 28, 1854 - somewhere in Illinois. Family story, according to my father, is that Clint was "abducted and raised" by an unknown Indian nation at the @ age of 5 years. Further info from my father reveals stories of wagon trains heading west (from or to where?) on which 3 boys @ age 5 were the only survivors - 1 of which was Clint.

The 1895 and 1895 Iowa State Censuses, both list Mary E. Howard with Clint and his wife, Anna. It is unknown for sure who Mary was. She is buried close to Clint and Anna and 2 of their children, Ray and Pearl.

According to the marriage record, and 1925 Iowa State Census, Clint's parents were Reason Howard and Sarah A. Wilson, both of Illinois. I have traced a number of Reason Howards but as of yet not connected Clint with any of them.

12/06/00 Recently I have come into contact with a cousin - my father's brother's daughter! Welcome Robin and her friend Debbie, who is helping trace our family. Thank you Debbie for the information you have located on our family!

Susannah Hammer Person
was born Oct 10, 1859 and died Feb 16, 1942 in Polk County, IA.  She  was previously married to Alanson Person.   Her marriage record lists her father as "J. Hammer" while the 1925 Iowa State Census lists her parents as Richard E. Hammer and Elizabeth Ridgeway.

Her obituary lists a half-brother, Ed Prather (father Martin T Prather) of Ruthven, Iowa - and recently I came into contact with yet more new cousins - on the Prather side!  Welcome to Jean and Jeanine and thank you for the information on Elizabeth Ridgeway and the Prather family.
